Fire and Ice is a great poem. It really spoke to us. It's the shortest poem Frost wrote. OoOoOoOoOo, wei read that poem in English class because it related (in a way) to Great Expectations by Charles Dickens because the more Pip tried to woo Estella (whom wei admire because of her coldness... perhaps wei are like her also, for wei have had admirers whose hearts wei have tortured...), the colder she is to him. It's very pathetic how he ruins his life and obsesses over her (the dellusionial boy!). Estella truly is awesome... But I wonder what her dæmon would be... Tracy: Probably something something that is very attractive on the outside, but is actually a vicious predator... It would be, as my English teacher says about Estella, a man-eater.

Uh oh, I think wei're talking about a different "Fire and Ice" than Syriel. The copy of the poem that wei have is by Edmund Spenser... oops... Oh well, it's still beautiful and it goes like this:
Fire and Ice
My love is like to ice, and I to fire: how comes it then that this her cold so great is not dissolv'd through my so hot desire, but harder grows, the more I her entreat?
Or how comes it that my exceeding heat is not delayed by her heart frozen cold, but that I burn much more in boiling sweat, and feel my flames augmented manifold?
What more miraculous thing may be told that fire, which all thing melts, should harden ice: and ice which is congealed with senseless cold, should kindle fire by wonderful device?
Such is the pow'r of love in gentle mind that it can alter all the course of kind.

Thats a nice poem. Wei like Tennyson, espec. the more depressing things like Mariana in the south. We're such angst junkies.

I like Lawrence's poems, because they reflect who is is.

Such is the pow'r of love in gentle mind that it can alter all the course of kind. Frost's is: Some say the world will end in fire, Some say in ice. From what I witness of desire I hold with those who favour fire But if it were to perish twice, I think I know enough of hate to say that for destruction, ice, is also great and would suffice

On music, we listen to everything, for the msot part, except most rap and metal. Some rap yes (for example, Eminem's Toy Soldiers), and some metal, but not much of either.
Reading... that is where we differ quite a bit. While our straight fictional prose tastes are similar, elsewhere we differ big time. I like philosphy, reading Aristole and Locke and Neitszche. Or having them read to me.
On the other hand, Alexei is a poetry guy- he reads Maya Angelou, Frost, Tennyson, Dickenson, Dillard, Shelly- oh... all kinds of poetry.
I must admit, Shelly's "Ozymandias" is one of my favorite poems, but I think a lot of that is because how much Alexei likes it. Dunbar's "Sympathy" and the response by Angelou, "I know why the caged bird sings" is good, as well.
And I don't think fire nor ice will end the world, but simply an overwhelming plague of mediocritcy.
