Just for a single second, so I would know he's real. Like seeing an angel and knowing there's a God so you needn't go by faith alone. I'm pretty much a humanist, and the mystery of consciousness is a huge mystery but I haven't really believed in souls or daemons even though any explanation for consciousness is as good as the next. However, now I am not so sure and am willing to go out on the line and believe in daemons. I have had a strange sensation of longing especially when I am wet and a bit chilly, and there is really no explanation for that. It centers on the heart and I feel as though my soul is aching. That is an unsolved mystery too, and I am wondering if it has anything to do with my daemon pulling. Somone suggested that perhaps my daemon doesn't like water. I get the sense that my daemon is a small creature, not large like a tiger or bear or lion. But that may be because I find small animals more appealing. However, I may subconsciously find small animals more appealing because my daemon is in fact a small animal...what do you think? Also, how do you have a conversation with your daemon? I would like to live in a world like Lyra's, though, and know for a fact that I have a daemon with his own name, and touch him and see him...

Sometimes I wish that too. For my Rano to be physical. To me, starting to talk to my daemon was really easy. I think that had something to do with the fact that I had an imaginary friend at the time. Just pretend your daemon is an imaginary friend at first. That's basically what I did. I thought it would be neat to have an "imaginary daemon". I soon realized he wasn't imaginary. He was real.

I'm still getting used to my daemon, like I find it hard to think about when I'm busy or at softball practice or something. You can't completely SEE your daemon, as the FAQ said like a computer screen. It's just like a picture in your mind that never really goes away
As for how to know what your daemon is (since you don't seem to) you just talk with it. Me, I was sitting at my computer and could picture a ferret like thing around my neck. Turns out he was a marten, which I've never even heard of. It doesn't have to be an animal you know about. Just think about it and you'll probably get a feeling for what he/she is. Then you can give it a name ^^ Mine liked the letter K for the begining of a name so I tried Kamikaze, but he didn't like that. He preferred Kami (and I think my daemon has an ego cuz that means god in Japanese >> )
Talking comes in different ways as well. Some people can see thier daemon's mouth move in any form thier in and they're animated when they talk. Mine just knid of looks at me and we talk in my head with no animation XD Just a tip though: don't talk to your daemon out loud in a public place. People will think your nuts.
The concept of a daemon is surprisingly easy to grasp. It's that little voice inside your head that tells you what to do sometimes, your concious. I've never had an imaginary friend for more than like 2 minutes put I can easilly picture a marten on my shoulder or an arctic fox at my side. I also had a same feeling like you. After softball practice yesterday I was feeling tired and ticked off and I felt empty inside. Then my daemon came back to me from being a hawk during practice and I instantly felt better. It was nice ^^ He also helped me fall asleep last night, which I have problems with
Wow, I just kinda went on and on and on XD

Just for a single second, so I would know he's real. Just 'cause somethings non-corporeal, doesn't necessarily mean its not real though.....

I figure that a soul is like clay. You can't change someone else's, but if you want to, you can turn yours into a dæmon.

My dæmon is physical, but I think this is why: I started to think about the concept of having another half even before reading HDM. Slowly my dæmon started to become physical.

You mean he's really there, and not inside you? You can actually see him, and pet him and stuff?

when i first met falel, i wanted more than anything in the world just to be able to gaze into eyes that were really there, instead of imagined ones. it's lessened now, but i still wish i could have him in a tangible form - just for one day....

Me too. I hug Darkett and Sylvie (human form) often, but there's a small, ever-logical voice in the back of my head saying, "There's nothing there. Look at your arms. They're just grasping air. He/She'll never really be there." I know Darkett doesn't need to be physical to be there for me--and we're both content that way--but I would like to touch his actual feathers for just one second. Then I would be satisfied.

I, too, have always wished that Kir was corporeal. Especially now that he's settled I long to feel is almost scarlet fur for real. There are some advantages for daemons not being physical, but I still wish sometimes that daemons were physical.

With all do respect wei would like to say that you can make your daemon corpreal. just simply do this well think of every possible feeling emotion sensation ect that your daemon could feel. and think of exactly how hei or shei looks like and then put it together now it would only be corpreal to you just to let you know but others who have done the same might be able to do the same. well let us know what you learn. this is how i met kiba and wei would have it no other way.
