Well, I guess I was asking in a more...real sense (?) Like, if griffins were real, what would scientists consider them as? But that doesn't matter...I'm just...curious about things like that.

EDIT: Just searched it--and apparently they do. BUT there are egg-laying mammals (the echidna and platypus), so who knows what the heck they are....

yeah, they lay agate eggs. (Do baby griffs come out?) But I'd also say that they're birds because their heads are birds...I think that where the brain is located is what they should be classified as (that was a terribly clunky sentence.) Like you said about duck-billed platypuses...DBP's actually have bird DNA in them, even though they're mammals. They're kind of like griffins in that they have traits of birds and mammals.
