[Note after I posted this: I am being made *looks pointed beside her* to come back and fix my spelling mistakes.]
I was talking to someone about beliefs the other day and she invited me over here... I apologize in advance my intros are normally quite long winded...
I have long believed in totems but my totem somehow felt different then how people described there. It changed and I just assumed that since I was growing up that my totem was evolving with me until a particularly snotty therian/otherkin (for those who don't know what a therian or otherkin is I can explain if you wish) told me totems don't change and I was just attention seeking when I asked questions about changing totems. Then once when talking to my husband (at the time he was my best friend) we came up with the theory that since I can "see" my totem that maybe it is not a totem but a part of my soul that manifests externally.
Then I found the Golden Compass in a bookstore and on the recommendation of a friend I bought it, then the next and the next. And they caused me to think 2 things:
- Oh my goddess that explains my "totem" so well, perfectly even (except the whole cutting thing.)
- and
- Oh no now no one is going to believe me because the idea is in a fantasy book.
*Smiles* anyhow my daemon (I still call my daemon my totem sometimes just to avoid the book term) has settled since I the past year (since my best friend and I started dating then got married) to an ocelot, the only difference between it and a normal ocelot is he/she has sapphire blue eyes. I say he/she because my ocelot does not seem to have a sex, I call her a she though and she doesn't seem to mind. As for a name she really doesn't have one because she feels like part of me, just outside of me physically, her name is an "emotions" not a speakable word. We have been playing around with some names lately.
Anyhow as for myself I am one of those people some people think are crazy who believe in past lives and walk-in souls (that enter empty bodies) and we believe we have had so-called "past lives" and I am an energy being. But that is a whole nother story. This post is all about my ocelot. Who is quite happily watching me type this and praise her. She is my inspiration (as is my husband and his still unsettled daemon, which seems to be settling as a cougar.) And since I am a full time artist inspiration is a big part of us.
I hope that all made sense.
Question to you all:
- Do you ever accidental say "we" instead of "me" or "I" when referring to yourself as to include your daemon? -
