Yes, I had to go to the dentist today. Routine cleaning. The lady(thank goodness she's not my regular hygienist) treated me like a child. But I suddenly felt like making a topic on the subject of dentistry in general...
At least these people aren't as bad as the ones I used to go to. My old dentist/orthodontist would have me wait in the treatment room. I just sat there in the chair, staring at the ceiling(and the obligatory bright light), and occasionally at the instruments of tortur-- I mean, dentistry-- lying on the tray by me, anticipating with great 'excitement' my upcoming tortu-- ah, treatment.
My mother says she's read that(leaving someone to wait and anticipate torture) is a recognized form of torture in itself. O.o
Also, I hate novocaine shots more than actual cavity drilling.
Any dental horror stories among you people? *doesn't really have any HORROR stories, except for the fact that she had 4 teeth pulled as a baby, which she doesn't remember, and of course the braces thing in general*

When I had braces, I had a door opened in my face and wires and brackets went through my mouth. Blood. Gross. Dentist trip. And novacaine.
did anyone hear about that girl in Philly who got over dosed with laughing gas at the denist and got into a coma o.o Or just meeee?

Wow. I hadn't heard about that at all, Steve. That's really creepy. But then after watching Little Shop of Horrors repeatedly as a kid, I've always been kind of sketched out by laughing gas. (Don't know why it didn't affect my view of dentists...just laughing gas.)
Uhh... I don't really have any horror stories. Although I did have to go on an emergency trip to the orthodontist with my friend and her brother once because the inside of his cheek got stuck in his braces. Yow.

Lets see, in first grade I got 6 teeth pulled, one or two of them splintered and the bone chips came out a few years ago, in 3rd grade I got another 4 pulled, and was back at school that same day, have braces, got all four wisdom teeth out at the same time (total number of teeth I got professionally pulled is 20 I believe, lots of which were baby teeth) and I had jaw surgery this summer and still have not regained total feeling in my lower lip and chin.

O. M. G. ...Amanda, did you read my story one-shot in the Art Board? Because it's called Dentist. O.o More TDF psychicness again?...
As for dentists in general... I've hated 'em since kindergarten. -shrug- Tooth extraction and things. Then there was that time I had two teeth pulled out at the same time and they had to inject me with a HUGEEEEE needle to get 'em to come loose...

I hate doctors more but dentist drive me nuts. As for horror stories... Okay, so my sister's friend's brother was using a water gun (one of the back pack ones) and I decided to take it from him because he filled the pack with ice water. >.> So when he unhooked the hose from the pack and went to run the hose didn't unhook all the way and stretched and hit me in the mouth, shattering my front tooth. Hurt really bad and lots and lots of blood. Now, the irony is that my brother was in oral surgery at the time. So when my Mom took me in the dentist said I had broken it to the nerve which was why it was sensitive. He numbed me and numbed me again but it still hurt as he drilled a pin in it to put bonding around it. When my Dad knocked out the fake part TWO HOURS before my first boy/girl party we had to go back in and the dentist (new dentist I might add) asked why I had a metal pin in my tooth. ><;;; I was ready to track down my old dentist and kill him.

Extreme dentalphobia here. They have to drug me just to clean my teeth. Not that I complain. Laughing gas is love. The stupid thing though is that they ask you if your ready for them to turn the gas off. Who in their right mind says yes? >.>
Right now my wisdom teeth are coming in so I think a visit to the torture chamber will be in order soon. Tis sad.

No, I didn't see that story, Fiery... so I guess it is more TDF psychicness. XD I will read it, though... And you had a door opened in your face, Steveh? That sucks... I mean, braces are bad enough, but having doors opened in your face just adds insult to injury... Ash-- Good luck. I'm glad my wisdom teeth haven't come in yet... As for laughing gas, I've never had that to my knowledge... O.o My old dentist was a sadist(my father's acquaintance called her a "nazi b***h" for example), so it's doubtful she WOULD have used it.

Good luck with the wisdom teeth, Ash.
I resisted for years and years and hoped that if I never brought it up at the dentist and/or pretended that I was going to get it done that they wouldn't hassle me about it. Seemed like unnecessary surgery, y'know? But about a year ago they finally told me that I HAD to get it done. Period. And they'd schedule the appointment for me.
But really, it wasn't bad for me at all. There was very little pain (didn't even need to take all of the meds) and the anesthesia only knocked me out for the procedure. Although apparently redheads have weird pain tolerance and reaction to anesthesia...so I dunno.

Whoa. I just went to the dentist, last week or a week before. I had a "curing"? Whatever. She cleaned my teeth really good. Apparently, my overbite is bigger than I had originally thought. And I have gingivitis. DDDx BUT I FLOSS NOW. AND GURGLE MOUTHWASH. WOOO. ;-;

Ugh. I had my wisdom teeth taken out, and afterwards I started puking from the anesthesia. And I had swallowed a lot of blood, so it was all nasty. But I got vicodin. =D

I'm going to the dentist today. XD It's just a check-up, so, yeah. The only exciting things that have happened to me and my teeth are when I got braces (and then got them off, but I still have my bottom retainer), and when I got fillings. That was fun; I tried to drink some water right after they finished. It didn't really work. XD Also, I've never had a cavity in my whole life. *is proud*

The worst i've had done at the dentists is one filling, and that was only the last time i had a check up. I think I need another though, as one of my molars hurt tonnes if I drink a cold drink x_o
