I've decided to ask if anyone knows why Sy changes colors. Shei doesn't change shape, only colors. But the thing is, it always stays the same basic reds, browns, and blacks. Just in different amounts and places. Except the black. The black is always in the same place; on her back, the back of her front legs, and the front of her back legs. And the two markings on her face are black, too. A 'V' on her muzzle and two lines coming from the back of both her eyes, going diagonally-down.
Does anyone know what this color changing could mean?

Maybe its just to do with your mood? I could see that as working.Very rarely are Nymmi's butterfly wings the same color/pattern, though I have to say that I just cna't remember, maybe. But then it'd still be the same....*shrug* Either way, it changes. He rarely unfolds them though- it's like either a.)he's embarressed or b.) he's protecting them. I should prolely start a thread on that. anyways, back on topic, I bet it ahs to do with moods or surroundings. Maybe you should write down when she changes, how you're feeling and where you are in a special notebook or something.

Pheo's only ever changed to compleatly black all over once and that was when I was really depressed (it was his way of showing me that I was getting too upset and to cheer up) so yeah, I'd say moods, but more extreame ones.

The first summer after settling (this last one) I changed my usual white fur to brown, as an ermine would do. I'm sure I did, and we think that was just for the change of life, because summer is all cheer and happiness (not all but most- no school!! sun in out frozing city!!!) and then in september I turned white again. I'll never change taht way again, I know, but it was also to see if it fitted me... (sorry to get into your human-forums) Too late, Res...Well, that's what happened to us...

I'd say, too, that it's to represent your mood. If Sy is settled (I think she is...?), she can't change along with your emotions; the colour is another way for that to show. When we're very proud of ourselves, Darkett puts white flashes on the underside of his wings. Like so: www.crowbusters.com/oddities/oddity12.jpg

Rho used to do that when I thought he was settled. I figured it was because I like to blend in with my surroundings. Or...something. Not really blend in, but not stand out. I adapt to situations very well, so I thought that had something to do with it. It might be the same thing with you. =)

I love the random oddities of creatures, like the blue morph arctic fox!

It might be a mood thing. I've been very happy lately and Sy's been really bright colors.

This is really wierd because Kier does exactly the same thing and he's also a fox. Usually he's red when wei're feeling energetic, black when wei're depressed and white when wei're really happy. In his case it definitely is a mood thing. I think Silver would be his 'neutral' colour, but it really does change a lot.

Yeah, I think it is mood. Sy's colors range from bright orangeish-red to very dark brown. Thanks for your thoughts.
