If animals had Daemons, would they be hmanoid daemons? it would seem weird that an animal even had a daemon.

We discussed something like this in another thread once, and I think it's safe to say animals don't have dæmons. At all. They have souls, but clearly their souls are less complex than ours ... if a dog is angry, you know by his body language. He can't just hide it, it doesn't occur naturally to him. As humans, we can disguise our emotions, but our dæmons will portray them for us no matter what, right?
Animals in books and movies, though, are different. They're more three-dimensional. We could call, say ... Simba, from TLK, a golden retriever personality. ( Not saying he is, just an example. ^^; ) I highly, highly doubt that any animal would have a human-like dæmon. What would that say about them? Humans have so many different traits. Unique to each one. Unique because of their dæmons, which are animals ...
My brain hurts. >< In closing ...
Animals don't have human dæmons.

Animals don't have human dæmons. I'd have to disagree (just my opinion). I don't think animals have daemons, but their souls are by no means "less complex" or unique than ours. Animals are just as unique as humans, we're just unable to see the differences because we're too caught up in ourselves and don't care to pay attention to the things around us. I have over 8 pets and each of them are unique and intelligent. I know I sound crazy, but I spend a lot of time with animals and when you do that, you can clearly see how unique animals are. Sorry if I came off as rude. That wasn't my intention.

Unrelated. But ... yeah, I got 98%, which makes me "gifted" or "enhanced". But it doesn't necessarily make me smarter than everyone else. It just means I see things differently. Like thinking outside of the box. Now let's scoot back on topic, m'kay? When you put it that way, Cho, I see it. I have two guinea pigs, both very different from each other, and a dog, who is so unique it's crazy. XD But I can't help thinking animals' souls are less complex. Personality and soul are two different things, right?

I saw a documentary about children last week, it's a series and I've only seen the first one, but it was saying is that what makes people special is theory of mind. This is where people learn to understand what others are thinking and how to respond. It was saying that by certain ages children learn how others are feeling and how to cover their own feelings. I think that's important in seperating us from most other animals is that we have empathy. But then elephants get sad when they find elephant bones, but I guess that's different. I've grown up around animals all my life and I wouldn't say that they have dæmons because their lives haven't become as complex as ours and they don't need to react in the same way to life as we do. Less complex? Maybe, but I think it's about our environments and ignorance is bliss. My dogs don't know about globle warming and wars but they do know that if I pick up their leads then it's time for a walk and that's all they really care about, survival and a bit of affection. Human dæmon? Nah! How would you catagorise them? English girl with blond hair and blue eyes means you are a super bird who loves to have fun and can get annoyed when people don't understand you, you also like to be a bit agressive at times. Doesn't really work That's my 2 cents ^-^

I think animals have souls, but I don't think they have daemons. Daemons are our souls, but they are also other things too. Our concience too. Probably some other things that I can't think of now. My dog knows right from wrong. When she's doing something wrong, she looks guilty. But that's a personification. She doesn't feel guilt. She knows what she is doing, and she is acting in a slinky way that she thinks will keep her from getting caught.
Animals have souls or spirits or whatever you want to call it, but what separates us from animals is the fact that we have daemons. Though I can't prove that. It's my theory. Though if animals do have daemons, I think they'd change all the time like a child's daemon would. Also, I don't think the daemon would be restricted to humanoid forms.
Animals are considered less complex by humans because they don't worry about things that we worry about. They don't need to know about the space program to survive. They have no use of that information. Humans are basically ADD compared to animals. They only concentrate on what's in front of them. They don't care about human things because wars don't feed them every day.
And now I don't remember what my point was......o.o

I agree with the idea that animals have spirits or souls, but not daemons. Personally, I think animals are great - though there are ones I don't like - and I wouldn't say that they don't have feelings and personalities of their own. But because their minds and ours don't work the same, I don't think that their souls would manifest in the same ways as ours would. Perhaps animal souls are simpler in appearance, but that's because we, as humans, have to look at it from our point of view, and they seem that way in comparison. But if human minds and spirits are more complex, it's likely because we've become that way in order to fit the world we live in...or perhaps we made the world more complicated in order to mesh better with our own natures? Whichever it is, I think that people are the ones that need daemons because of it. Animals live according to their natures, whether those are the instincts of a wild creature or a domesticated pet. If they feel the stings of guilt, anxiety, regret, anticipation, or insecurities that humans do, they don't show it in ways that make us think that they feel those things in the same way. Humans, on the other hand, do such a good job of confusing themselves and each other that there are times where we need daemons (or a conscious, or whatever different people see it as) just to help us sort out our thoughts and decide what steps to take next.
*blinks* Okay, I got distracted for a while there, and lost my train of thought...I think I'm done, then.

Arrgh... too many words... my head hurts.
It all depends on how each individual views it.
Each of us has their own opinions, and we should all TRY TO EXPLAIN THEM USING LESS WORDS!!!!!
I get bored easily, so I don't like reading uber-long posts.
Anywho, this is one of those things that you wont get a single answer on.

Yeah, sometimes posts can get really long, can't they? Sorry about that; I'm prone to ramble at times, unless something interrupts me and I forget where I was going with the last few things I said. It's the main reason why journal entries that I write usually have little to do with their titles by the time I'm through writing them. ^^;; As a very important person to me once said, "It's like that 'six degrees to Kevin Bacon' thing."

Sorry to revieve a dead conversation, but they call gifted people at your school enhanced..... whoa.... thats a bit scary to think about, is it just weird terminology or are they suggesting that you have had genetic enhancements. Again, sorry to hijack this thread.
