Seeing as the name for your daemon sort of comes from your soul, I would say no. It wouldn't be a true name if you did that.

No. They're the only ones that name their daemon. A daemons should be something special to the person and daemon. However, a daemon doesn't really need a name- it just /is/. The only time a daemon would need a name is if it was talking to the human because a soul or spirit doesn't really /need/ a name. If it makes it easier when talking about a persons daemon to give it a name, even without the persons knowledge, then maybe it is okay. I can go both ways on this one.

If you said a name and your friend liked it so much that they adopted it. Well, I guess technically that's naming their daemon for them but I thinks that's alright because it was their decision. What circumstances do you mean Ghost?

I would tell him before you go about "defining" his soul for him.

I'd say it's ok to 'name' another person's daemon. But not expect them to call it the same. Sortof like a nickname so you know what to call it if it doesn't have a name because the human doesn't know about it. *pant*

I agree with Hannah. Like, having a nickname for it so you don't have to say "___'s dæmon" all the time. But it wouldn't be their true name.

I named my family and some friend's daemons, but just to refer to them in some way when Rester and I want to.

Same here. Nobody but the daemian of the daemon can truly name the daemon.

Hmm... I'd go with Hannah here. A nickname is fine, but they're the only ones who can name their dæmon.

Yeah, I agree, I don't think other people should name another persons soul. Not truly, anyway. I think the human should name his/her daemon for it to be right, and both the daemon and human should agree on it.

Falel semi-named my dad's dæmon. (She's a Rhesus monkey, and we don't like her. No. xX) It was weird... my dad and I were arguing, which is basically him insulting me and me sitting there are saying something cutting every once in awhile as Falel screams bloody murder at him. XD Soooo, we're arguing. I'd just figured out what his dæmon's form was, so Falel and I could semi-picture her on his shoulder. She suddenly gave this nasty smirk... and t3h l3l just shouted "Wipe that grin off your face, Flynna. He was so taken aback at using her name that I laughed. It didn't much help me in that argument... But yeah. To conclude that pointless little story, I think it's okay to name someone's dæmon in weird cases like that.
