Just a little survey to see what you think about how dæmons are formed. Unanswerable, but interesting.

Well, I'll cut and paste what wei said in the last post to here. Zed explained it better then I probably could.
In this world we don't exist as physical forms. The humans here in this forum have just realized their daemons and projected them outside of themselves. We really just belong in the heart.
Aww. So, wei think that daemons are something internal in this world, but they can have a 'physical' form in order to be closer to their human. They are always there.

Agreed (As I have already said). Maybe Pullman will answer it in the Book of Dust? No doubt if he does he'll come up with an ingenious idea!

I think someone (Okibi, perhaps?) once said that dæmons would appear around 3 months of age, because of consciousness issues. I think that's possible.

But seeing as daemons are your soul....that would mean that a baby has no soul till s/he is 3 months old. I think daemons appear the second the umbilical cord is cut...that's when the baby becomes ''independent''.

I just said that the dæmon doesn't have a completely clear/corporeal shape until it's about 3 months old. Taken exactly from my site, I wrote:
I've always imagined that the dæmon doesn't have a clear shape until the baby's consciousness fully develops. (The ability to feel, think, and react, that is.) So the dæmon wouldn't appear automatically, but still rather early on, such as around their third month of life... Before then, the baby still has a soul, so maybe the dæmon is just visible as some vague form always nearby.

Lol yeah, that makes more sense! You could be right.....what I wouldn't give for P. Pullman to explain all this (in detail) in the Book of Dust!

If he explained all details of dæmons? Kroven/Fenris: Dæmons aren't exactly your soul, they're a sort of mix between personality, consciousness and soul, so therefore Okibi's theory is valid. And very good at that! I'd never really thought of it...

Wouldn't that ruin the whole fun of this forum? If he explained all details of dæmons? Well maybe for some people....but I like knowing things and I'd love to see how he would explain everything (and if I don't like what he writes I can always choose not to belive it)! ;D Kroven/Fenris: Dæmons aren't exactly your soul, they're a sort of mix between personality, consciousness and soul, so therefore Okibi's theory is valid. I always imagined daemons as our souls. We have a body to sense the world, a ghost to learn about the world and a soul (a daemon) to feel about the world. But that's just my interpretation. ;D
