link=board=polls&thread=1114451939&start=42#2 date=1115003014]Brooke! Dont be rude... You forgot to say ' Please come again' and give her her receipt. Honestly now, I expected better from you.
I suppose you should feel honoured, "Frankie." I'm spending my three-hundreth post on you. ;D I am sorry, Brooke, and I'm not trying to offend, but this is the first thing Ghost said on this entire debate that made me even chuckle. Yay for ghost! Or something.
I think there are times when research like this is needed or justifiable-- don't give me that "Playing God and OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH how bad!! Shame! Shame!" Crap. You heard me. Crap.
If God didn't want mankind to have the ability to reason, to think, and to move forward with science and thought, we would not be curious. In fact, why make a pair of curious creatures, drop them into a little garden from which they can get everything they need, and then mention "no touchy of the really pretty tree over there. kk?"
I don't mean to sound so blasphomous--okay, yes I do-- but DANG IT! God is, to the best definition, INEFFABLE, and people still insist on telling me what God intends? WTF?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
That said...
I think that "Playing God" is wrong, most often, becasue people do not consider the animal at all. They end up dead to see "if it worked." You want to play God, people, feel free, but you'd better know most of the rules. And Compassion is, I'm afraid, the name of the game.

I've always wondered what the outcome of the crossing of certain animals. I have a thought in the back of my head to become a geneticist and screw around with DNA for fun. Yeah, it sounds wrong. Real wrong. I'd never dream of hurting the animals. If they were going to be hurt, I wouldn't do it. But I'm curious like that. I mean, what if we gave a horse wings? Then we'd really have pegusi. That would be awesome. I mean, think about all the little girls who dreamed of riding a pegasus, and then picture the look on their faces if they could have one and ride it. But that would be bad to, because the pegusi would be exploited. They'd be put in freak shows, and be made to fly people for money and not treated good. I think the government would probably have to create new laws if we started making fantasy creatures. You have to have a special permit to own a pegasus. Or anything else for that matter. But yeah. Just a thought. I don't really want to do it, but it would be cool if I could do something with genetics that could help people. Like with sheep. They give them and extra something or another and they produce spider silk in thier milk. I dunno what purpose that has...but stuff like that. Not horribly mutilating an animal just so it could be cut up in to pieces and sold to medical schools and hospitals.
What's really weird is when we start talking about genetically altering humans. Did you know that you can pay a lot of money to increase the chance by 30% that your baby will be a boy or girl? Yeah. It's weird. They don't really alter the DNA or anything, but still....I dunno what to make of it. It's facinating, but seems moraly wrong. Like making the baby's eyes blue, or green or whatever. It captivates me, but repulses me at the same time.

XD Ghost is great.........I <3 GHOSTIE!!!! XD
Okay,so I was talking in class one day and scientists are putting human brain cells into a sheep embryo, but if it starts showing human behaviour, they say they'll kill it. Why? BEcause they're threatened. I,however, think that there would be a few that wouldn't kill it. No,sir. It's like how cloning is going on outside of labs and such.
