It just goes to show that uniforms remove individualism but you'll find that nearly all students (at my school at least) like uniforms because they don't need to worry about how they look so therefor don't have to fit into a group. Y'know, that makes alot of sense. We're probably getting uniforms next year, and everyone hates it, but it will make it harder for people to judge each other.

I guess I'm "the deputy's daughter" with "really long hair" and that's it. It just goes to show that uniforms remove individualism but you'll find that nearly all students (at my school at least) like uniforms because they don't need to worry about how they look so therefor don't have to fit into a group. I go to a public school, so no uniform. But I did spend a day at my friends' catholic school (in a uniform! O: ), and I hear quite a few stories. That place is brutal, even without uniforms they use word of mouth (whether it's a lie or not doesn't really matter) to divide people into groups. I'd say it's even worse than my school because they have to resort to more devious methods than clothing to decide who is 'cool' and who isn't. Of course, that school is also french immersion so the division between the frenchies and the english kids adds a whole bunch more issues. I much prefer having no uniform, personally, I can wear my pjs to school if I please. ;D

I know a girl here who told her best friend that she was going to hell because she was Muslim. I'm sorry to say I've heard simillar things about the school I mentioned, where someone put gum in a girl's hair because her father is Muslim. Hearing about comments like that stuns me. I agree with your sentiment about religion in schools, I must say I was quite shocked when I left the school board after elementary school. It was like, 'newsflash: not everyone is catholic!' I knew barely anything about pretty much everything, having grown up in the 'burbs having the Bible read to me daily. I'm just glad that my parents' views stuck with me more than the teachers' and I'm open-minded. And yes, having such a sharp contrast bewteen schools is a little odd. There was a catholic school and a public school across the street from one another where my dad lived for a while, in Scarborough, and they used to have wars and fight and throw rocks and such all the time. Even stranger is this school where they've combined the catholic/public students, of course only the catholic students wear uniforms. It's a strange dynamic, but i don't know much about the politics because I've lost touch with my friend who goes there. I'm personally not into anime, but from what I can tell there's an anime crowd at my school. I've only been there for a few weeks, though. I actually don't think it's too bad for cliques there, I'm simply difficult and take a dislike to perfectly decent people and isolate myself, probably. My own fault entirely. Does anyone else find this happening with them?

Our school has a uniform - long tartan skirt, grey blouse, navy blue jumper, navy blue blazer (jacket), navy blue tights, navy blue school shoes. Tis great.
We don't really have goth/punk/prep/jock cliques like that. We just have the "popular group" and everyone else. I'm just in a little group with Jade, Daisy, Emma, Amy and sometimes Kim and Rosie. We're not referred to as anything.
As for what clothes I wear out of school, I wear surfy brands like reef and saltrock. I wear Animal clothes aswell. I don't wear jeans, because I find them uncomfortable. All my friends say I wear "comfy clothes".

When I was younger, I was the Weird Quiet Girl, but now I'm more of a theatre-art-nerd-person. Most of my friends get good grades and are in drama and music. We make our own stereotypes. But we're normal enough not to scare people away. It rocks.

Oh yeah, at my school it's not what you wear - it's how you wear it. Everyone's in uniform, but the 'popular ones', (a.k.a the preps, the cool group, &c.) wear their skirts rolled up, their sleeves pushed back, their collars up - it's little trends that they invent for the rest of the school to follow. It's weird. I just wear my uniform how it feels comfortable o.O
There IS less stereotyping at my school 'cause of the uniform, but it hasn't made that much of a difference for us. There are still cliques and stereotypes of braniacs and nerds and cool kids, etc, but in my grade everyone gets along OK. ^^ I hang out with a bunch of people from each and every group, and they're mainly all fantastic. So. Yup, it's nice.

Wow, well, if we had uniforms, I'd have a short skit,dyed hair,and a black backpack. O.o; That is odd.
Most of our school is great with religious tolerance- out of 600-700,only 4 or 5 are redneck enough to get pissed at a pagan.

Me, I'm the random girl. XD My friends are sort of a weird collaboration. I hang out with a nerd, two jocks-with-straight-A's, a prep, a badass type and a couple of guys. I myself am a combination of bookworm, artsy girl and goth. People don't really talk to me unless I'm with another friend. I'm sort of invisible; but hey, I like it that way. My wardrobe is mainly black, but is isn't crazy-insane-safety pinned-grommets-and-fluorescent lining type, it's rather nondescript. I have maybe two pairs of jeans. xX I cannot stand jeans with spandex. They drive me insane. I'll eat nearly anything, but I'm picky as hell when it comes to my jeans. XD~ And I'm glad we don't have uniforms. I would probably kill myself, or else just wear a lot of funky jewelry and decorate my tie. ^^

I don't know about everyone else but I'm glad that my school doesn't, I'd just have too much stuff then.
I would definitely fit into the band-nerd category, I'm in sports, but not a jock, I get good grades, but not that good. I play music out of school too, so that would be rocker. Not emo though, denim spandex is just creepy.

Rock music? On an entirely different note, elves are incredibly sexy. Very much so.

Elves? Anywho...well we've got uniform at our school too but everyone customizes ;D I don't have a clique, I have 3 best friends, one of who is a Barbie, one who is an emo, one who is a burn-out or prep if burn-out doesn't count and me. I'm a punk/goth

Haven't met any elves, but my friend is friends with a gnome and he seems nice enough,despite his rough exterior (self-absorbed,vain,and arrogant, jsut like meh Nymmi!),and any faeires I've know have been giggly and playful,but also shy. Nemith plays with faeries alot,though. Even if I don't see em. -_-;

jeans with spandex = jeans that are stretchy. xX Not just plain cotton, which is what they *should* be.
Elves and faeries rock my world.
