..be it eating disorders, mental disorders, phyical disorders, whatever, do you think their daemons would have it to, or look in any way different? I guess it's different for different ones, but I just wanted some ideas and opinions on it.
Oh, and this is meant by no means to be rude or hurtful...

I don't think so... I have health and mental disorders, and Veil seems perfectly normal... Well, despite the fact he's a stag I talk to in my head. There was a thread about this somewhere else, I think.

Sorry, I didn't know there was another one...
But like, when you have, for example, an eating disorder, your personality changes. You become more irritable and your mood swings are more frequent, and you don't really want anyone to know what you're doing. So, I thought, maybe, because of the effects on personality, your daemon would chnge too.....I dunno though...hence the question.

I think that perhaps Veil does all the running that I can't do... But people with eating disorders... Their daemons probably are a bit strange.

Ah, but I don't think they would. I think they would look a bit strangebut not thin and bedraggled simply because they try to hide it. Like in the book when Pan has to try and be more subdued, as to not give away Lyra's true feelings...

Hmm... Though if you had a disorder, wouldn't your daemon be the one to try and help you, be the healthy side of you?

I think, your daemon's looks completely depend on your mental state. So, yeah, if you were in a wheelchair, but perfectly mentally capeable, then your daemon would be as healthy looking as you are in your head. But if you have a mental disorder then your daemon would be different according to what effect the disorder has on your mind. I did't notice it before, but now that I've come out of my depression, Rho is a lot more shiny. I don't know what other effect it might have. Like, maybe the daemon would be skinny and harsh looking. Or maybe thier eyes would be cloudy and they can't see. Stuff like that.

Very possibly. I guess it depends on what you've got, how serious it is...

I've never really stopped to think if Veil looks different in one of my down moods. I really don't think he does though, mostly because he's my inner strength.

I've been wondering this too. I think with an eating disorder, the daemon would try and talk the human out of it, and they would look kind of thin and sick until their human got treatment or something. With mental disabilities, it really depends on what you're talking about. If it was just a short attention span or something like that, I highly doubt the daemon would look any different than a normal person's daemon would. However, if it was just complete insanity, the daemon wouldn't look any different, but would be just as crazy as the human. If it were something like a memory problem, the daemon wouldn't be able to remember anything either. So, in short, if the disease doesn't affect you physically, the daemon wouldn't look any different. If it affects you mentally, the daemon's mind would be the same, but I don't think they'd look any different.
If it were a physical thing, like being in a wheelchair, your daemon would be fine. (that reminds me of the time I saw a guy going down the sidewalk in a wheelchair, with a cockatiel perched on his shoulder)
Also, would the daemons of the blind also be blind? Since daemons aren't physical, it doesn't really matter whether the daemon can see or not when their human can't, but think how useful it would be for a blind person to have a daemon that could see. It would completely eliminate the need for guide dogs. My theory on this is that if you were born blind, your daemon would be blind too. However, if you had an accident or a disease later in life that made you go blind, your daemon would still be able to see. Same goes for deaf people.

that gives me an idea...maybe, the whole disorder thing, oh shit i lost it. But i had a flash there, it had something to do with daemons being born with the disabilities, like say your daemon is born blind and you arent , that means something is wrong with you...mentally/spiritually/pyschically? But then when someones born youll know if they have issues because maybe there daemon isnt quite right?

I think that people who are blind must have daemons who can see. They have this uncanny sense, it seems, of knowing what exactly shapes look like, and colors are, and the like.
