OKay....I think we all have expressed our feelings towards how the current RPG is stacking up.........and I think we can all agree that its a bit crowded. I'd like to use this space to discuss any ideas on what possible solutions could be. Larr already took it upon herself to begin another RPG section (kudos for being so independent and decisive--but next time wait a while and contact me first. , though I know this may not be the solution everyone was looking at. Please please PLEASE put up your ideas/possible solutions to the overcrowding problem! Thank you for your time--any suggestions are good ones! ~Ali n Tyb

Well, yes, and let me restate my thoughts for the record: If this RPG is going to be complex, there's just no way everything can go into one thread. It's too much. You're trying to sort through a glob of posts half the time to see which ones relate to your character, and other times even more confused as to where everyone is because of mix and match. I was not aware that I ought to get permission just to make a new thread, I thought there was nothing of it. ;; Now, I don't suggest allowing people to make new threads just anywhere. I suggest area threads, like Gardens, Slums, the different colleges maybe, the docks, so that anyone whose character wanders from area to area can post there accordingly and there's no mistaking of location. I don't mean letting everybody make MANY different threads and have people popping in and out, that's confusing and inconsiderate. But I can't see how just one thread could possibly work if the RP game is wanted to actually last for an extended period of time.

Right. I completely agree that having THIS many people in ONE thread is wicked confusing. Area-by-area threads would be better and would save us all some serious reading time. The permission thing is just kind of me attempting to keep things in order........which I guess isn't a very good method, but bear with me here.
Anyone else have any suggestions/ideas/input?

hum i understand Larr's suggestion but if it's goal is to reduce the people posting it won't work, we usualy travel in groups and people will still post in one thread. Plus it will add to the confusion as you will have to check on everythread for each thing that happens at the same time...The idea of a thread for each place if just too confusing and will mulitply the current confusion by ten...
Reading each and every post will lessen the general confusion. and it is the simplest solution. But there is still the issue of length and number of posts. You could either put a rule of a few posts per day (although i don't like this idea much) or making a second RPG (that can meet the other one later, after everyone's settled; plus it adds to the story!)

Or if someone starts a new topic, they could create a new thread.... or we could have a thread for locations, such as 'The Botanic Garden', 'Redfield Novels', etc. ^^

The goal is not to reduce the number of posts, Aleandra. The goal is to -organize- the posts so that different groups aren’t trying to search through a glob of posts just to find posts from people in their group. For example, right now we’ve got Fossil, Julian, Lindy, and Adrienne in one area, and then everyone else is in another, and we’re all trying to figure out who’s at the garden and who’s in the slums. It’s a pain having to sort through it and make sure everyone from our group’s posted. See, you don’t have to check on every thread. Your character CAN’T be everywhere at once. You can only be in ONE place at a time, so the only reason you should be worrying about other threads is if you want to join in. A thread for each place is an attempt to organize. Personally, I don’t want to READ just one thread where everybody’s trying to post at once, it’s just a major hassle figuring out what’s going on. There’s no need for a second RPG; it’s not that big a deal to have location threads. Just keep out of other peoples’ group story lines, or keep up on your own time. If anyone moves into your area, they can easily explain briefly through OOC that they’re there, and that they’ve arrived. But there’s no way for your character to ALWAYS know what’s going on, it’s just impossible. Not everybody has to be in the same place at once, it’s stupid. Fossil’s home isn’t even big enough, almost, for the four that are there now. If every single player’s character were there, it’d be impossible to move. It’s not that hard a concept to grasp. The point is for you to ONLY post in YOUR location, and don’t worry about what other people are doing unless they come to YOUR location. If you want to read up on what others are up to, you can, but generally if you’re getting talked about in character by other people, it’s not your problem unless they come to you in character. If they’re plotting against you in character, there’s no way your character could know that unless they’ve got like, psychic powers. I do not want to see a limited number of posts, it’d take FOREVER to get anything done, and there’s nothing difficult about having location threads. I think sitting around mulling it over is just silly, meaning no offense to SNLObsess, of course. But it is. And if there’s any confusion still, she or I can always explain, or you can keep up via the summaries. Which reminds me, I need to add one... EDIT: Please also note that there is no anger or defensiveness meant in the above post. I'm totally calm, except for a tummyache and a little bit of frustration. ^^; But really, I'm fine. ;; Just opinionated. ^___^; Also, if the concern is that if we make places but they aren't ever used, why don't we just make places as we need them? That way, it'll keep thread number down, and if they're inactive for, say, two-three weeks, we can delete the thread. It'll all be old rp anyway, yes? If people want to archive their old RP, they can. I intend to. ^^ But then when posts get old, we can tidy up the forum. And can always post up warnings before anything's erased, yes? There could also be a limit on older posts, like, RP that's a couple weeks old. That way only fresh, recent RP is what everyone sees and goes through.

Whoa calm down... I know what you're trying to say but I'm just not convinced it will work, and I did say i didn't like the idea of restraining post numbers (it was a off-my head suggestion after all)
but hey you guys can do what ever you want in your rpg, it was only suggestions.

Ok, I think we're going to need location threads. I check the rpg in the mornings and afternoons, and sometimes only in the morning. I had to shift through two pages of action thattook place in the slums. maybe for now, we could just try two different locations? Like, The Slums and The Garden... for a trail period, for maybe a week, and go from there?

A try-out for a while sounds good to me. I'll unlock the "The Slums" thread and see how it goes. If everyone's alright with this......if not PM me--this is just a trial run! LETS DO THIS!

SORRY for double posting. But...
I'm starting a new thread - Redfield Novels - and thought you all should know. (In case you're wondering, that's the bookshop where Okibi's Tobias works.)

Thanks, Zen. =) It's alright that you were side-tracked before starting the Redfield Novels thread. At the time I wasn't in the mood to roleplay anyway. But now I am! I'll have Tobias working in the store whenever your character arrives. No rush, really. ::has quizzes to study for and analyses to do::
