There would probably be really strict daemon rules to keep things in check. Examples:
During class, daemons must either be on their owner's lap or under their desk.
Daemons are not allowed to talk to their humans or other daemons during class.
If your daemon's settled form is something too large to fit in the classroom, such as a horse, you will be moved to a special "large daemon" classroom, where the ceiling is higher and the desks are really far apart.
Daemons may not fight.
In short, school would suck even worse if daemons were physical. They would be reduced to sitting around looking pretty and being unhelpful. Actually, they wouldn't be able to act anywhere near as funny and silly as they are now, unless you were alone.

The humans could ride in a little go-cart thing or something as the daemons run.

Obviously, buildings would change. They'd have to make wider corridors, higher ceilings, etc. I can see a lot of new and creative architecture arising from it. Rafters and perches for daemons, rooms set up to maximize space, and probably a different layout to classrooms because rows of desks could be very awkward. I don't see daemon-specific classes. If they were just to appear, then maybe, but it'd be like a philosophy class. I can see that as a college course, especially for a psychology credit or somesuch. I can see a lot of new rules. No touching other peoples' daemons. I can see that right up there with sexual harassment in how it's treated. Not just detention, a serious offense. In the HDM books, fights between daemons are described as very common. They tend to handle the fighting for their humans. I'm sure it'd be against the rules, but especially with younger kids, I can see it as common. I suspect a lot of discrimination would result in high school, when everybody's daemon starts settling. Getting picked on for having particular daemons, same-sex daemons, etc. I imagine no matter what Kael settled as I would either grow to love him or never like who I am as a person. Because he'd settle as what I'm like, and whether I like it or not, that's me. Like the man whose daemon settled as a dolphin. I don't see daemon athletics. One, it would be a disadvantage for lesser daemon forms, and two, the distance factor would come into play. The whole 'drive with them in a cart' thing sounds way too dangerous for my tastes...any sort of accident, and that'd be it. Why should the daemons compete? They're not pets playing agility. They're our souls. My picture of daemons is a bit more dignified than that. >.> That's just my opinion though.

Dignified? I raise, on my end, arrogant, aloof, and so bloody competitve it hurts. Quite often.

Well, this is going a little off-topic from "daemons and school" but thinking about it, for example an Art college's students would all have similar daemons, because they all have artistic attributes. And maybe in the college if somebody had a daemon totally different to what attributes the majority of the student's daemons had they might get teased and told that they would fail because their daemon isn't the right form.

You know you would probably be judged on what you are going to be in life by your daemons final form or something. Like in the books most people in the military had Wolfs as daemons.

They'd probably have a daemon show-and-tell too, like a presentation on your daemon. But daemon athletes...it would all depend on your daemons settled form, like you'd pick someone with a changeling daemon for the swim team or someone with a bird daemon for baseball or cricket, like how the daemons nudged the snowballs into the faces of the Tartars in HDM. I'm not sure they'd have canine-only colleges, that counts as prejudice but perhaps they have specific classes for people's daemons. And there'd probably be no more faking sickies, seeing as the school nurse's daemon would know from the state of your daemon.

Ooh Cal did not like that XD *sideways glance at seething daemon* oh yeah, panthers have sharp claws. And teeth.
Do I look like a puppy to you? Would you like me to roll over and beg too? Or go out the garden for a piss?
Hehe, he swore. He loves ya really, it's just the idea he hates

Okay, I'm sorry, I really am. And yes, panther, ooo, scary, but I am much more worried about the tiny little putt-tat at me feet. She, too, has sharp claws... It popped into my head, and all I could see was me trying to tell Kryii (who is, as you can probably tell, a kitty) to "sit" or "rollover." That would go over well... *giggle*

I'd think daemons would be more personal than having to have rules, or games or anything. Why would daemons want to compete in games. I think the only reason daemons are so active and talkitive is because they are completely cut off from other daemons. Daemons need /some/ contact with other daemons. So they make up for it here. But daemons probably wouldn't need rules. 'Don't touch another person's daemon'? Do people really need to be reminded of that? Why should daemons be confined to laps and desks? Why couldn't they sit anywhere they please? If it doesn't disrupt the class, what's wrong with it? I mean, people would control their daemons. You couldn't blame the daemon for something it did. You would blame the human for not controling it. Because you can't punish a daemon. Think about it. Punish someone's soul because they got into a spat with another daemon? Little tussles seem as though they would be common. To me, it just seems that daemons are more personal than superficial things as 'canine only colleges' A lot of weight lies upon your daemon's form, put politeness would prevent people from making big deals about it. Aside from maybe bullying maybe. I don't think bullying would be much of a problem. All daemons have fighting abilities. I mean, think about Hester and the owl daemon. Owls can kill a rabit, but usually the rabbits don't fight back like that. It's kindof a...look at the personality with the body, then see how well it might do in a fight. Dominance is also an issue. A cat daemon could make a dog daemon back down with a bat of a paw. It depends on the daemon.
*shrugs* My opinion anyway.

Hannah, there shouldn't be rules for daemons, but with the screwed up society we live in, I wouldn't be surprised. Schools make a lot of nonsencial rules. At my school, you're not allowed to have chocolate because it makes you hyper. You can have candy, your whole lunch could be sugar, but you won't get in trouble as long at it isn't chocolate. Schools are pretty stupid sometimes.

You can't have chocolate?! *shudders* I would DIE without chocolate. I would die more without my daily Dr.Pepper at lunch though. You can't have pop (soda) either, I bet.

At our school, it is illeagle to go to the snack machines after you've 'gone to lunch' which means that after you've crossed this line, you can't turn around to get anything. You can get something on your way to lunch, but not when you're already there. Though, there is a loophole. Tell Mr. Ford that you are going to the AG room, and as long as you touch the doorknob, you've been there, and you are now 'on your way back to lunch' and can go buy something. It's weird. Mr. Ford thinks it's funny. 'Be sure to touch the doorknob' XD

We don't get soda, but I really don't care for fizzy stuff anyway (although if you mix kool aid with carbonated water and vanilla ice cream it's really good). At the school I'm going to next year, lunch'll be really good. There's a hot meal every day, sometimes with dessert, as well as a deli if you don't like what's on the menu. It'll rule! I have to get a tablet laptop for that school too. (if any of you are wondering, it's one of those nice, expensive private schools where you have to test to get in and stuff)
