Actually, atheist that I am, I believe it is reference to the "fact" that adam and eve were made from clay dust. Isn't there something like "to dust ye will return"? Or is that just in HDM? >_<;; Sorry,I dont' read the bible,but I remember them mentioning it in HDM

Ashes to ashes, dust to dust = usually recited at funeral sevices. o.o So that's where I heard it before, I thought it sounded familliar. I wonder what the connection between ashes and dust is.

I don't think there really is one, that seems to be saying more like "nothing is going to change-- they're dead now. EDIT: This works especially well if they were cremated or... dusted, whatever that is.

o.o That's a bit morbid, I wonder why it's on Rho's collar then.
EDIT: Maybe it is connected to life- death - rebirth cycle?

I remember that phrase from funerals and such too, at least in movies...I can't remember if I heard it during actual ones that I've been to or not. To me, though, it sounded like they were basically saying, "everyone goes back to where they came from", in a way. It kind of makes sense...we're all made out of organic material, and whatever else may or may not happen, when we die, our bodies just become different forms of those same materials. Kind of like the circle of life, you know? *mocks the song, then snickers* Okay, maybe that wasn't the best choice of words... ^^;;

My step-dad swears it's in the bible...but he can't find it -_-;
It's not about going back to where you came from.
Well, either he's being a very good actor, or he doesn't know what it means either. Just that it doesn't mean something about going back to where you came from.
*says phrase very slowly* For some reason it seems like one 'ashes' should be capitolized and one should not. Same with the 'dust' thing, but I don't know which ones. I can see why 'dust' would be, but not 'ashes.'
Very odd. I remembered the thing about funerals and it kinda creeped me out. Rho likes that it is morbid but has cryptic meaning behind it. He's amused by weird things.

I've heard the phrase at a couple of funerals, one of them was a cremation (not sure about the other). Ha! Pheo likes morbid things too, his personality doen't always match his form, like this morning (he was in his new-revised human form) Just having fun, you know, not being physical and all I can still change when I want ^-^...anyway, he had red eyes and I asked why, he said it was because he could kill people since I'm too soft-hearted sometimes he freaks me out I was just kidding! He's back in his settled form now, I like it that way better ^-^

The exact phrase "ashes to ashes and dust to dust" is from the Angelican Prayer Book, one of the many prayers for the dead.
However, there is a comment in the bible, in the first or second chapter of Genises, about ashes and dust and something similar. So no, it isn't from the bible.
But yes, then again, it is. When I can find it, I'll let y'all know. It's kinda annyoing me right now. =P
Like you are ever going to look...

Well, my daemon Morlani likes to be in the form of a german Shepherd a lot, and when he moves i can hear a kind of jingle which I recognise as the sound of a dog collar...however, I have never seen the collar! Morlani says he doesn't have a collar, and he's not making the noise. Hmmm...

We have found a form with a collar. ^^
It's some sort of weasely thing - white with black fur over it. Looks quite a lot like a ferret, only darker. ::shrug:: Who knows. I'll go search for it.
Anyways, the collar is this tiny blue thing. Like, ITSY-BITSY. It's maybe a centimeter thick. There's a little silver tag on it, but it's too little to read. Falel can't see it either. We're not even sure there are words on it, maybe just weird symbols. ::shrug::

He was a margay today for some reason, and he had a red collar on with a little yellow circle-thingy. He used to have a blue collar in his cat-form too. But I can't visualize what they say, so I dunno.

Well Cal's hardly domestic is he? I didn't notice his collar and dog tags until I found this thread, then I looked closer and there it was.

In Rho's dragon form, he has a band of metal with inscriptions on it around his right forepaw. It's got the same writing on it that the tag things had.

Hm. In mongoose form, Pocket's collar is red, but in fox form it's black leather and has smooth silver studs encircling it.
