If you mean the meaning behind the name, Rho's meaning was chosen by him. For me, I don't like a name too much if it doesn't have a meaning for me. Not someone else's name though. If I was to chose a name for me it would have to have a meaning. I wasn't to enthusiastic about 'Rhokath' because it held no meaning for me. I liked the name, it sounded nice, but it was empty. Rho had it in mind all along to dub his name, no matter what real meaning it had, as meaning 'Wild Magic' It was empty to me because it was empty to him. Mostly I think it's up to the daemon. If a name has a meaning behind it, it's because the daemon gave it one, or it came with the one the daemon chose. But then, that's my view of things. Same here. it has to have meanign. I always felt Nemith was regal and prince-like, and even though its quite the opposite of my scruffy little Nymmi, he has qualities that I admire, naturally. ^_^ He is my prince *hugs Nemith*. After he settled he chose AnpuNumen as a formal name, which means Anubis Sou/Spirit,but he's still my little prince. ^-^

Well Calosta is from a different language...spanish but I pressed the wrong button Calosta doesn't really have a meaning, but I'd like it to, he's not really bothered but if it makes me happy it makes him happy. So we'll work on that and get back to you...oh and I'M BACK!

This goes back a bit, but I think "You laurel crowned son of a Watson" should be the official forum insult, it just sounds so............... weird.

Well, I asked this person on a chat what I should name my dæmon, and she told me, "Haim. It means life." From that moment on I called him Haim. It was like since I'd found my soul, I began to live.

I guess that names don't have to have a meaning, but it always seems better for me when they do. Whenever I make a character, I try to pick names that mean something; I would do the same for a name I chose for myself. But the interesting thing is, sometimes names end up having meanings because of what they're used for or where they come from, not because they have a set meaning to begin with. When I was thinking about this, Kara said, "My name might not have a meaning, but does it matter? If your name was the same, but it meant something different, it would still be your name." I had to admit that she had a point. My name is still mine, regardless to what it means. So as a word, Eikara has meaning for me because it's my daemon's name, even if we don't know what it means. It's like my nickname. "Yumi" means "bow" in Japanese (the weapon, not the action) but to me it holds a greater meaning because of the person who first called me by that name. If not for that, I probably wouldn't use it.
I still like names with meanings, though. ^_^

I sorta made up my Daemons name out of 2 names that I like and their meaning fit well too Pere: from the name Peregrin always makes me think of something cute, mischievious with an almost imp-like grin. (think Pippin from LotR ) Wynne: Celtic(I'm Celtic ) means white, fair. Well Ermine's are white (doi!) and also kinda gives a more em... shy-like personallity. And that's the way the cookie crumbled
